Half a million boxes have been digitized to date, including roughly 400,000 documents and files from the beylical period preceding French occupation (roughly 1700–1900). A national inventory has identified more than 2.3 million audiovisual documents, 2 million photographs, and 43,000 sound recordings. Rare pieces date to the 16th century.
