The Next Narrative Africa Fund has opened its first public call for submissions. Initially announced in September 2024 during the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the $40 million hybrid fund combines grantmaking and equity financing for African and African-diaspora film and television projects.

Brass Tacks
– 20K–100K USD per project
– 6 to 10 projects to be selected
– Narrative features + series only
– Deadline: August 1, 2025
🚨 NOTE: HEVA Fund is no longer involved. The fund is now operated solely by Next Narrative Africa.
The fund has stated it is seeking “great ambassadors for the brand” and reserves the right to manage “reputational risk,” indicating a curated pipeline model rather than an open discovery approach.
This isn’t just a script development grant. It’s the start of a longer process—funding, oversight, and public alignment included. Applicants should treat it as an entry point into a working relationship with the fund, not a one-time award.
