– “On Becoming a Guinea Fowl,” Rungano Nyoni’s Cannes/Un Certain Regard Best Director winner: A24 has set a release date for December 13, limited. Cities not confirmed yet, but very likely in New York City, NY, and Los Angeles, CA, to start.
Awards season campaigns for both are very likely. I have Nyoni’s film as Zambia’s submission for Best International Feature Film Oscar consideration. Although her debut, “I Am Not a Witch” represented the UK.
Diop’s “Dahomey” may be submitted by either Senegal or Benin (possibly even France).
