LES FILLES D’OLFA (FOUR DAUGHTERS), Tunisia’s Official Entry for the 96th Academy Awards, will be released in the U.S. by Kino Lorber exclusively in theaters, starting on October 27, the distributor announced today.
Directed by Kaouther Ben Hania, the film uses a mix of fiction and documentary to capture the story of Olfa Hamrouni, whose older daughters left to fight for Islamic State.
FOUR DAUGHTERS is a film that explores the radicalization of two daughters in a Tunisian family. Through interviews and reenactments, it delves into complex family dynamics, examining themes of memory, trauma, and mother-daughter relationships, offering a compelling portrait of a family in crisis.
It won the Golden Eye for Best Documentary at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and shared the L’Oeil d’Or prize with Moroccan filmmaker Asmae El Moudir’s KADIB ABYAD (THE MOTHER OF ALL LIES).
FOUR DAUGHTERS opens exclusively in theaters on October 27 in New York and on November 3 in Los Angeles, with expansion to follow.
