The NFC announced earlier this week that it funded five web series from the 2023 call that are now set to premiere over the next few months, starting on August 14.
They are:
– “Politainment” by Michael Kayunde: A documentary series that explores the role of music in Namibia’s struggle for independence, featuring iconic artists whose songs became anthems of resistance. Consisting of three episodes, it will premiere on August 14.
– “A’Felende” by Sally Jason: A drama-comedy centered on four Namibian women tackling life’s complexities—friendship, love, and personal growth. It includes five episodes, premiering on August 21.
– “Nanub” by Michael Namaseb: A reality-based web series on the life of Michael Namaseb, an artist whose creativity has impacted many. The series includes six episodes, set to premiere on October 2.
– “Tsek” by Inna Goroh & Jacob Shichilenge: A scripted series about Jonas, a simple but timid guy in his late 20s, who learns he must consistently be on time at work for five days or face termination. The series spans five episodes, premiering on October 9. [Trailer attached]
– “A Butterfly Stings” by William Salmon: A thriller that follows Detective Shilongo, haunted by his daughter’s murder, as he unravels the mystery behind her death. The series consists of five episodes and will premiere on November 6.
Each series will be available on platforms like DStv, GOtv, and Showmax, ensuring wide accessibility.
